FEAST at Isaac Dickson

Hands-on cooking and garden education that deepens our school's experiential learning mission - and one of the PTO's most important investments in Isaac Dickson students.

FEAST brings hands-on cooking classes into IDES and gives students the chance to plant, tend, and harvest in our school garden throughout the year. It's experiential education in the truest sense - students learn by doing, tasting, growing, and connecting with where their food comes from.

FEAST led classes focus on problem solving, teamwork, and confidence in the kitchen. Students work with local seasonal ingredients, learn how food affects their body and brain, and connect cooking skills to their core curriculum. It's one of the things that makes an IDES education genuinely different.

How it's funded

FEAST at IDES is made possible through two sources of dedicated funding.

Yumiko Virant Endowment

A memorial endowment honoring Yumiko Virant, a dedicated IDES parent whose legacy continues to support our students through FEAST programming each year.

IDES PTO

The PTO contributes directly to FEAST each year - one of our largest investments in the school's experiential education mission. When you donate to the PTO or participate in our fundraisers, this is part of what your support makes possible.
