Following the removal and replacement of the crumb rubber tire mulch by the Asheville City Schools Maintenance crew, the IDES PTO has launched a gofundme campaign to pay the district back for the cost of the new mulch. Please visit and consider making a contribution to our mulch replacement costs

In the fall of 2016, a group of Dickson parents researched potential health hazards associated with recycled tire crumb rubber mulch, which is used on the playground at IDES. Summaries of their findings are provided in the document links below. These findings were brought to the Asheville City School Board in December 2016. Following the December board meeting, the Asheville City School District agreed to provide the labor necessary to remove and replace the crumb rubber mulch.
